Have you seen The Help? Or read the book?

What a wonderful story! I have yet to read the book, but the movie is excellent!

I think Mr. Torres may have even enjoyed it despite the fact that it’s not his usual type of movie:)

Also excellent, are the delicious-looking chocolate pies that are featured in the movie!

Regardless of whether you have seen the movie or not or enjoyed the movie or not, this pie is an absolute must!

I found this recipe in one of my magazines and it is the exact recipe that was used to make the many chocolate pies in the movie.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that my crust looked pretty going into the oven, it didn’t look so nice coming out! I had substituted butter for the crisco that Mama K’s recipe called for and thought maybe that was the reason, but after talking to her, I found out that she refrigerates her crusts for about 30 minutes before baking.

I guess I know for next time:P

Despite its sad sides, the crust tasted delicious and kept most of the pie filling where it was supposed to be.

Did I mention how easy this pie is? Once the crust is done, you just throw everything in the blender, pour it in the pie crust and bake it for a bit.

It’s delicious right out the oven (couldn’t wait), cooled to room temperature and chilled!

“Fried chicken just tend to make you feel better about life.” ~Minny Jackson in The Help

Now, this may very well be true, but I believe a piece of this of chocolate pie will do just the same!

Verdict: This pie is easy enough to whip up without much notice and nice enough to serve after a special meal. It didn’t last long around the Torres house and I plan on making another one soon…I have to try again on the crust, of course;) Watch The Help, make this pie and appreciate life!

Now if only it was a slow cooker recipe! How many days until you close on your house?
