Tomatoes, Cake-decorating and Crystal Bridges

11 Jun

From the three tomato plants that I have planted in my lifetime, I have gotten exactly two tomatoes.

That’s it.

This year’s plant is looking like it’s going to yield a bumper crop.

I have two baby tomatoes!

Even if those are the only tomatoes I get this year, it will double the number that I’ve ever harvested! Just call me Farmer Kacey:)

I am taking a cake-decorating class through Hobby Lobby with a friend of mine.

We meet once a week for four weeks.

Last Thursday was the first class and it was pretty basic. Actually, it was really basic. And by basic I mostly mean boring, but I’m looking forward to this week’s lesson…

We’ve already gone over how to bake a cake, how to make frosting and the simplest way to decorate a cake (or a cookie).

Plus, how many more Wilton cake-decorating products can they try to convince us to buy?

Basic or not, we still have fun…and the results are delicious:)

Mr. Torres and I headed to his hometown of Rogers, AR for a surprise graduation/birthday party for one of his high school/college friends.

We had a wonderful weekend of boating, visiting with friends, eating good food, a bit of shopping and visiting Crystal Bridges.

Crystal Bridges is an American art museum that serves the purpose of allowing art to be accessible to all. Admission to the museum is free and it houses some of the most influential and important works of America’s past.

Not only is the collection of artwork impressive, but the architecture is beautiful, as well. The design is meant to capture and compliment the beauty of the natural landscape.

In addition, there are several miles of hiking/biking trails that traverse the campus.

Overall, it was one of the best museums that I have visited!

I’ve always wanted to take a cake-decorating class, but am always intimidated that they’ll be too intense for my newbie-baker-self haha. Considering the fact that you think it’s pretty basic, it sounds like they would be right at my pace ;) haha
