Before I started getting into cooking, I didn’t really pay attention to how different foods are better at different times of the year.
I mean, come on, Easy Mac is ALWAYS in season. As is peanut butter and jelly.
And bananas are easy to come by no matter what month it is.
Because I wasn’t paying any attention to the seasonality of foods, I was missing out. Really missing out.
If you take the time to notice what is being grown and harvested during different times in the year, the quality of food that you eat increases.
Tomatoes right now? Perfection.
Corn on the cob? Glorious.
Don’t even get me started on the strawberries and blackberries.
All of these foods are in season right now and all of these foods should be on your menu this week. At least once.
In the Torres household, it’s all we’ve been eating.
Plus ice cream….it is summer afterall:)
A special thanks to my parents and grandparents for planting and taking care of gardens and then allowing Mr. Torres and I to enjoy the deliciousness that comes from them!

So true, girl! And that photo of the caprese salad looks ah-mazing!
Lovely, tasty, juicy red tomatoes. Yum! Why do we even torture our bodies by eating the pale, not-so-juicy, tasteless out of season tomatoes? Right?
yummmm!!!!
I can’t get enough of tomatoes & zucchini right now – both taste SO good
