Quick, what’s the first thing that pops into your head when you hear the words Viennese food?
…
Anything?
When I read that these delicious little bars were a classic Viennese treat, I couldn’t think of one other food that I knew of from Vienna.
Except maybe those little sausages that I used to love as a kid:)
So I’m going to pretend that Vienna sausages really are from Vienna and claim that, now that I’ve made these bars, I have a fairly good knowledge of Viennese food…
We’ll just ignore the fact that I’m not even exactly sure how the word sacher is pronounced.
And the English translation of sacher is apparently sacher. Our knowledge of Viennese food sure isn’t expanding much.
One thing that I do know for sure is that these bars are delicious!
They start with a brownie-type base,
Have plenty of apricot filling,
And are topped with a chocolate drizzle!
The Viennese know their stuff!
Verdict: These little bars were fairly easy to make despite having a few different steps. I don’t think I ever would have paired apricot with chocolate on my own, but the combo is just the right amount of tangy fruitiness, just the right amount of delicious chocolatiness and just the right amount of this-is-super-duper-rich-I-can-only-eat-a-small-square-iness! They’re delicious in such a unique way!

I loved them because they weren’t too sweet or too tangy, but were just full of rich chocolatey goodness:)
