Coming Soon…Big Changes

24 Nov

It’s not a new car (but if it was, I’d pick this one! it’s electric AND sharp!)…

It’s not a puppy (although this one is adorable)…

It’s not a baby (Lord knows we’re not ready for a change that big!)…

My beautiful sister and her adorable September-born triplets<3

Our big change is…

A move to Houston!

Of course, this adventure is filled with many pros and cons.

The biggest pro for me is that Mr. Torres and I will be able to strike out on our own, challenge ourselves and experience life together in unfamiliar territory. Bring it on!

And the biggest con is not being close to Daddy K and Mama K.

When I moved back to Bartlesville to finish my science education degree, I never imagined that I would stick around and love it so much. I lived with Daddy K and Mama K for the first year. Bought the cutest little house three blocks away from them and lived there for two years and then married Mr. Torres and moved into his house which is only one mile away from my parents’ house.

After Mr. Torres, my parents are my best friends and I love being close to them!

Our move will be gradual with Mr. Torres heading down sometime in January and me not joining him until the end of the school year. We’ll sell our house sometime in between then and there.

For good and bad and happy and sad, Houston is definitely going to be a big change and a big challenge!

Ahh. So sad for your daddy and momma K. I’m sure they loved having you close. But, alas, as it is with growing up, one must strike out. My best wishes to you and Mr. T (sans the chains . . .). LOL

You’re married and socially supported by parents and friends, financially independent, emotionally stable, physically at (or past) your prime, and you’re not ready for a baby? Well, have a great time in Houston. We’ll miss you.

The great thing about life changes such as living on one’s own, dating, marriage and babies is that despite what it may seem like by looking at all the obvious things, God has a timing that is individual and perfect for each one of us. Sometimes God chooses to show his timeline by physical means and sometimes it is more an issue of the heart or the mind. The obvious may say that we are ready, but when God instills in us the passion for adding to our family, then the timing will be right. Until then, we’ll enjoy the adventure of being a family of two!

I agree….when children are meant to be, they will happen. Happy Anniversary and Best Wishes for all the upcoming changes. LIfe will never be boring for the two of you! Best Wishes, Deana (‘workmom’)

Kacey! What an exciting adventure!!! It can be so challenging living away from parents who are your best friends (I think I cried all day the first Thanksgiving and Christmas we spent in California), but lots of fun to grow as a couple. Enjoy this season in your life and always be thankful for unlimited cell-phone minutes! :) A car, dog, and baby will happen in God’s timing (but wouldn’t a red convertible be perfect in Houston?!). Looking forward to following your adventures. Kaley

I think a red convertible is just what I need! Thank you so much for your encouraging words!

That is huge news! Good luck with the move! I know it is so hard to move away from home, especially when you are close with your parents. I moved to TN for a few years after grad school. I loved living in a totally different environment and meeting new friends. My life was a little slower which was a awesome! And my parents and I got SO MUCH closer. Their visits were the best and home is only a plane ride away! Wishing you guys the best with this big adventure in the new year!

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I’m thinking the move may mean a slower pace for me which would be great!

Awesome!!! As someone who had a big move in the last year, I know it will be overwhelming but very exciting! Congrats to you!

Thank you so much! Adventures are both terrifying and exhilarating, but we’re looking forward to the change!

I miss you already. BUT, when I come down to Houston for work, I’ll make SURE you take me for a ride in your new convertible ;)
