A couple of summers ago I made a couple of attempts to make healthy, dairy-free ice cream alternatives.
The first attempt combined apple juice, pineapple and bananas and ended up being a pretty sorry excuse for ice cream.
So now, a few summers later, I’m revisiting these Yonana Recipes and looking for new ones so that Mr. Torres and I can enjoy frozen summer desserts and keep it healthy at the same time.
Yonana Inspiration #3 is a delicious recipe that definitely provides the sweet and the frozen, but leaves out all the unhealthy!
All you need is some pineapple…try canned (no sugar added), frozen or fresh…and milk.
Plus a freezer and a Vitamix Blender
Although I don’t usually go for fruit flavors when it comes to ice cream, this is delicious enough to be one of my top-picks!
Especially when it is topped with fresh raspberry compote!
Verdict: This is probably my favorite healthy ice cream alternative so far. I’ve made sure to have some made and in the freezer for any nights that we feel like having a cold dessert after dinner and it’s super easy to throw into a smoothie in the morning! Although it’s still not as good as real ice cream, it’s a winner.
